DTV and your Wedding DVD
How this will be affecting my Wedding DVD
In short, there are two way to record your wedding, "Standard definition" and "High definition" video recording.
If you choose a "standard" video recording package you still can see the final DVD in your Standard TV set or in your new Digital TV set. Digital television sets are “backward compatible,” meaning existing regular-analog equipment (VCRs, DVD players, camcorders, video games, etc.) will work on digital TV sets. However, their video will only be displayed in the maximum resolution that is available with each analog product .
If you choose a "High Definition" package with a Blu-Disc DVD you will need a Blu-Ray DVD player, to see it. It will not play in a Standard DVD player.
As the Marketing hype grows, more HDTV Plasmas and LCD had been "Selling Like Pancakes". If you just plug it a Standard DVD Player in and start watching in a HDTV, you might be disappointed with what you see. This not means that the DVD disc is damage or bad recorded. It's just that is not created to be seen or display in a HDTV screen.
DTV is not HDTV
Digital Television (DTV) refers in the way the signal is send to the TV. High Definition Television (HDTV) may be consider the quality of the TV Screen. So, even though a digital signal is better quality than an analog signal, it isn't necessarily high definition. HDTV is simply the highest of all the DTV standards. There is different levels of quality of DTV.
“How to get a better image quality from a standard DVD disc”
To be honest, we know that you want a HDTV Plasma/LCD Screen for your entertaiment room. Still, you can get a decent quality picture out of just about any DVD player as long as it is properly connected and the HDTV is properly adjusted.
1. Start with the cables.
- Use digital connections, like DVI and HDMI connections, for digital devices whenever possible. Keeping the signal in a digital format from beginning to end preserves its quality.
- If you can't use a digital connection, use a component video connection. Component video is the highest-quality analog connection available. You'll still lose a little signal quality because of digital-to-analog conversion, but you'll lose far less than with S-video or composite connections.
2.Get a new DVD player. Some newer upconverting DVD players can do a pretty nice job of improving the quality of DVDs by up-converting the resolution to 720p, 1080i or 1080p. It won't look as good as a real high def disc (HD-DVD or Blu-ray) but good upconverting players can make a big difference in picture quality when compared to older DVD players.
3. Read the DVD player manual. Make sure that the output signal from your standard dvd player is configure to your TV to display the picture properly.
