Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastian 2008 January 17, 2007

A buddy of mine, Eduardo Garcia, asked me (Francisco) to go to "La Calle San Sebastian" Carnival. I haven't been in this street fest since 1989. At first I hesitate to go to this crowded activity. But he told me "we can get a nice video from the "Cabesudos", a locals parade in processions of traditional Puerto Rican masks which are vibrantly coloured in red, yellow and blue and carved into grotesque and comical shapes. So we went.
WOW!!! what a flash back . As soon I saw the people and the party atmostpher I was back in my 20's. Full of colour and atmosphere, the event is a vibrant mixture of small bars, pubs sites, dancing in the street and sounds, being enjoyed by people from all walks of life. The crowd certainly seemed to be enjoying the party atmosphere,as did the entertainers and dancers alike. As dusk falls, the live music and sound systems gear up and take over the area. This is an annual fest, this year from 18 - 21 Jan 2008
